Episode 4, A New Hope was the first Star Wars film to be made. It was released in 1977, but it was not the first film in the Star Wars story line. The film was however a big success and due to this the next two films were made. The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Back.

In 1997 it was decided that the original films were to be re-enhanced with new footage, better sound and improved visual effects. These would be relised as the Star Wars Special Edition.

Princess Leia is held hostage by the evil Imperial forces in their effort to quell the rebellion against the Galactic Empire. Luke Skywalker a farm boy buys two droids, one of which holds stolen plans of the Death Star the Empire's ultimate weapon. Luke meets up with Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and together with the help of pirate Han Solo they set off to returned the stolen plans to the rebels. On their way they are drawn into the forcefield of the Death Star. As they try to rescue Princess Leia, Obi-Wan Kenobi loses a duel to the death with Darth Vader. Luke joins the rebels and helps destroy the Death Star and restore justice to the galaxy, but Darth Vader survives.
